U.S. Congressman French Hill
Dear Friends,

Are you on Instagram? If you are, please follow me at username JFrenchHill. As I have said many times before, communicating with constituents is paramount to being a good legislator. Whether it is in person, over the phone, via email, or on Twitter, Facebook, and Instragram, I take my interactions with you, my constituent, very seriously.

In the 1980's when I was serving on the staff for then-Texas Senator John Tower, Washington D.C., was a much different place. The only way to interact with Congressman and Senators was in person, over the phone, or through standard mail. The advent of social media has  made elected officials more accessible than ever before.

While the constant exchange of pictures may seem like a less substantive form of communication than the others, I find it to be extremely useful. I enjoy having the ability to see the moments, ideas, and people that are most important to you, and Instagram provides the perfect medium for doing this.

I will also be using Instagram to post some of your photos from around central Arkansas. Moving forward, I will select photos sent to me by constituents to post on Instragram. You can submit photos by tagging me in them or by using #AR2Insta.

I look forward to seeing your photos.

Sincerely,

Representative French Hill

 Curing Deadly Disease

This week, the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 6, the 21st Century Cures Act, by a bipartisan vote of 344-77, Rep. Hill released the following statement:

“Every Arkansan knows someone who has faced, or is facing, the daunting challenge of battling an illness that has no known cure. This bill provides critical funding in a deficit-reducing manner to the National Institutes of Health and ensures that great research institutions like Little Rock’s University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and Arkansas Children’s Hospital can sustain their search for cures to the diseases that cost our health care system and hardworking Americans billions of dollars and take millions of lives each year. For centuries, advances in medical science have turned the deadliest of diseases into easily curable ailments, and I am pleased that, on a bipartisan basis, the House has renewed its commitment to giving people hope in their fights against disease.”
