U.S. Congressman French Hill
Dear Friends,

Congress returned for votes in the Capitol with work on humanitarian relief and essential tax reform to speed economic growth. We had an extensive classified briefing with Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, Secretary of Defense James Mattis, and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs General Joseph Dunford on the status of sanctions on North Korea and our work to end their nuclear ambitions.

Also, this week in the House Financial Services Committee we discussed new legislation that will expand economic opportunities for hardworking taxpayers so that they may achieve financial freedom.

On Wednesday, the Terrorism and Illicit Finance Subcommittee discussed how to stem financing for lone-wolf terrorists attacks through increased efforts working with the private sector to “follow the money.”

I am proud of the Committee’s work to keep our homeland safe.

The House’s tax reform package will be simpler, flatter, and fairer, and it will let businesses grow and expand to create jobs and support families. It will let Arkansans and Americans keep more of what they have earned.

Here are three ways our tax reform plan will help you:

1) Lowers taxes at every income level so you can keep more of your hard-earned money to save, spend, and invest the way you see fit.

2) Cuts in half the tax rates on personal savings and investment so you can invest in your local economies and build toward a more financially secure future for you and your family.

3) Ends the Death Tax so any family-owned farms and businesses can be passed down to the next generation without facing a potentially devastating tax bill on money that's already been taxed.

With small businesses employing nearly half of the private workforce in America, they need the funds to expand, hire, and achieve their goals. Filings compliance paperwork is expensive and time consuming for our businesses focused on job creation.

I am a proud co-sponsor of the Improving Access to Capital Act, which passed the House this week. This bill will remove government roadblocks and make it easier for people in Arkansas and across our nation to start, grow, and expand their businesses to create new jobs for hardworking taxpayers.

As we head into the new week, join me in sending your thoughts and prayers to those in states that are directly impacted by Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma.  I'm proud of all the Arkansans and Americans across the nation who are lending a helping hand to those in need. America is strongest when neighbor supports neighbor!

Sincerely,

Representative French Hill

These employees are saving lives! I recently visited the call center at the Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System (CAVHS) where employees are extending help to assist with incoming calls from the Houston VA . They normally take 200-300 calls a day, but right now they’ve been taking around 2,900 calls a day from those in Houston  seeking refuge and help.

Called the Hogs with proud Arkansans Governor Asa Hutchinson and Attorney General Leslie Rutledge at the Arkansas Razorbacks’ season opener. The Razorbacks dominated and we expect many more wins this season. Go Hogs!

Had a great chat with Kevin Miller on KARN this week, and we discussed the debt ceiling, the Deferred Action for Childhood (DACA) program, and my bill to protect the area around Little Rock Central High SchoolListen here.
