U.S. Congressman French Hill
Dear Friends,

Just weeks after Private Quinton I. Ezeagwula and the family of Private William "Andy" Long received Purple Heart medals for the 2009 recruiting office attack in Little Rock,  the American people witnessed another horrific event, in which the battlefield was abruptly moved to the homeland.

The tragedy in Chattanooga was a sobering reminder that war is unpredictable and that our men an women in uniform put their lives on the line on a daily basis. I am deeply saddened by this attack, and I want to extend my sympathies to the victims, their families, and the people of Chattanooga and Russellville

Villains who carry out attacks like those seen in Little Rock, Ft. Hood, and Chattanooga are on an ill-conceived mission to destroy our way of life. Even though they succeed in wreaking momentary havoc, they always fail at damaging the American spirit.

The ability to push ahead despite the obstacles that are placed in our way is our Nation's strongest trait, and it his been since our inception.

The history behind American's hardened spirit is something I value greatly, and that is why, this past week, I took my staff on a visit to the home of our first President, George Washington.

The visit to Mt. Vernon served as an opportunity for us to be reminded of the extraordinary lengths, to which our Founding Fathers went to preserve the ideals of liberty and justice.

As our guide eloquently said, "Those who do not know their own history become complacent,  and the values that many have laid their lives down to defend become forgotten."

History can't be taken for granted; instead it must always remain the foundation for our future. This is one of the core values my staff and I adhere to when working on your behalf in Washington and in Arkansas.

Sincerely,

Representative French Hill

No to a Nuclear Iran

After the final details of the President's Iran deal were announced, Rep. Hill released the following statement:

"I have been skeptical about this negotiation from the beginning, as it has fundamental and long-term consequences for our Nation, our allies, and the region. Congress now must exercise its oversight responsibilities and assess the proposal’s most critical elements related to snap-back bilateral and multilateral sanctions, international inspections and access, the status of the four Americans currently held as prisoners in Iran, and the potential $140 billion windfall for the world’s largest state sponsor of terrorism.

"As I have said repeatedly, Iran is not our friend, and, in my view, any deal that does not fully dismantle their nuclear program is not in the best interest of the United States and her strategic allies throughout the world."
